No cooking with salt! Salt will raise your blood pressure.

Personally, I never cook with salt. There is enough sodium in our food naturally speaking, so no need to add more.

And Da Beet .. Goes On..

Beetroot is excellent at lowering blood pressure, and as a bonus is helpful for sufferers of erectile dysfunction due to the high nitrate content. Nitrate is also effective in lowering blood pressure, which is why Doctors often prescribe nitrates tablets to sufferers of high blood pressure.

The nitrate in beetroot juice is said, by medics to be just as good and effective at lowering blood pressure as nitrate tablets.

Beet can be easily added to salads and can make some delicious juices like these two recipes here.

As word of warning, drinking raw beetroot juice is rumoured to cause temporary paralysis of the vocal chords. Although there is no scientific evidence to back this up it could be worth a shot in trying it out on your noisy neighbour (or the nagging wife! haha)
